Credo: Shadow and Substance in Contemporary Anglicanism – Lecture 3

In this series of three lectures given at George Whitefield College in May 2014, Canon Charles Raven explores the state of the contemporary Anglicanism, looking back at developments over the last 20 years. In his third lecture, he examines how Archbishop Rowan Williams attempted to reinvent revelation to be understood experientially, and to reinvent orthodoxy as a process of theological reflection. Charles Raven then explains how Williams’ position led to the failure of the 2008 Lambeth Conference and the initiation of the GAFCON movement, particularly as those from the Global South felt they could no longer tolerate such a compromised position.
