During the Lent Season, Gafcon will be posting short weekly reflections based on a verse from the Bible, to lift our hearts, to develop our faith and to reflect on all that this season means to us. Follow us and share these messages in your churches.
"Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour."
In this week that begins with Palm Sunday and ends with the resurrection of our Lord, we want to invite you to try to put yourself in each day of that week. Imagine yourself in the crowd, shouting Hosanna in the highest. Imagine Jesus looking at you. He knows everything that is to come. He knows how the shout of the crowd would cry out for something quite different. But still He says: ‘it was for this very reason I came.’ Imagine yourself at the foot of the cross, with Jesus surrendering His life. The crowd had cried out for his death, one disciple had betrayed Him, another had denied Him, the rest had abandoned Him, but even so He says: ‘it was for this very reason I came.’ Now imagine Him overcoming death. This victory gives eternal life to everyone who repents. If you believe in Jesus, He says it to you: ‘it was for this very reason I came.’
Give thanks to our God for such love.
Pray with us:
Almighty God, only you could do what you did for us! Thank you for such great love, thank you for such great forgiveness! May I never forget the reason why you came. May I never forget about your faithfulness. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
