Guarding and proclaiming the unchanging truth in a changing world

Lent Reflections

23rd March 2022

During the Lent Season, Gafcon will be posting short weekly reflections based on a verse from the Bible, to lift our hearts, to develop our faith and to reflect on all that this season means to us. Follow us and share these messages in your churches.

Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honour except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home."
Mark 6:4

Jesus performed many signs and wonders but when he returned to his hometown, He was received with unbelief. Have you ever wondered why? It is because those people had seen the origin of Jesus, lived with him, watched him grow and they found themselves familiar with Jesus. Often this ends up happening with us: we get used to Sunday services, with the celebration of important dates, with the regular reading of the Word of God. We forget how great and supernatural is our salvation. We forget to be grateful. We forget that Jesus is still powerful. Familiarity causes us to live in a middle line. However, the Kingdom of God is never a middle line. It is from above, it is from heaven, it is great and powerfuland one day we will see the whole earth filled with the Glory of God.

Pray with us:
Dear Father, heal my unbelief. Remind me how supernatural it is to have been saved by Jesus' sacrifice. Every day may I praise and adore you for being able to call you Father. May I recognise the awesome power of being adopted into your family. In Jesus name, Amen.
