Guarding and proclaiming the unchanging truth in a changing world

Advent Reflections

28th November 2021

During the Four Sundays of Advent, Gafcon will be posting short reflections based on a verse from the Bible to celebrate this season which is so significant for all of us who confess our faith in Christ Jesus. Follow us and share these messages in your churches.

Isaiah 9: 2. The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

In these days we can recognise the darkness without and within. In our global Anglican family, we read reports of economic, political, health and social crises. We are also aware of a spiritual darkness within caused by doubting or disregarding the goodness of God’s Word. In the northern hemisphere the nights are growing long. How wonderfully Isaiah captures the hope that light brings. The darkness is deep, but the dawn is unstoppable.

Pray with us:
Dear Father God, we praise you because you brought light into the world.  In your mercy, helps us to proclaim the Light and Salvation of Jesus to our neighbours, to our communities, and to the whole world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
