Sixteenth-Century Anglican Ecclesiology

Written:

During the FCA Leaders Conference in London in 2012, the Rev Canon Dr Ashley Null gave two lectures on Anglican ecclesiology. In this lecture, Dr Null, expert on Thomas Cranmer and the English Reformation, examines the views of the church as God’s vehicle for wooing successive generations by his great love, to love him and each other. He outlines a church as the fruit of the Gospel with the Scriptures at its heart and, in its visible form on Earth, with the civil authorities at its head. He goes on to establish that the English Reformers looked to the Fathers because they in turn looked to Scripture and the role Jewell and Hooker played in defending the first generation Reformers.
