Key Documents
This section contains four documents of key importance to the Gafcon movement.
Lambeth Resolution 1.10 was the decision made at the Lambeth Conference in 1998 to uphold the Bibles teaching on marriage within the Anglican Communion; that marriage is between a man and a woman in lifelong union, and that abstinence is right for those not called to marriage. This remains the official teaching on human sexuality and marriage within the Anglican Communion to this day even though it has been rejected by some provinces.
The Jerusalem Statement was the announcement made at the conclusion of the first Global Anglican Future (Gacon) conference in Jerusalem in 2008. It provided the context for, and was an important preamble to the Jerusalem Declaration which is the statement of faith that unites supporters of Gafcon as a confessional movement.
The 'Letter to the Churches' was the final statement of the Gafcon 2018 conference in Jerusalem. In addition to English, it is also available in French, Spanish, Portuguese and Swahili.
