Communique:

Investing in Future Leadership

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Gafcon,

I am truly thankful to God for the expression of generosity already shown in your response to the G25 Bishops Scholarship Appeal, launched last week by Archbishop Mbanda.

We have stepped out in faith by offering thirty scholarships to bishops from Alexandria, Brazil, Chile, DR Congo, Europe (ANiE), Kenya, Indian Ocean, Mozambique and Angola, Myanmar, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa (REACH-SA), South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda.

Each scholarship costs around $3,000 USD, which covers the international flight, the accommodation, visas and transfers.

We have committed to these funds because we seek to invest in the deep, genuine fellowship and collaboration that can only be experienced as our next-generation leaders share meals, embrace in warm greetings, and raise holy hands in prayer.

The Anglican Communion needs authentic, trustworthy leadership at this serious moment in its history, and we believe that an investment in physically gathering these significant leaders will ensure that the future of our beloved church is in safe hands.

Already we have received gifts to cover the scholarships of three next-generation bishops… but we still have 27 more to go before March.

Can I please ask you to prayerfully consider giving generously to this strategic and significant cause for the sake of the gospel?

Would you, your church or your organisation provide a gift for this special appeal, as we gather our movement for prayerful collaboration?

Please click on this link to visit the G25 Bishops Scholarship Appeal page, and consider whether you might give to this important cause.

But above all, please pray for this important event, as we ask the Spirit of our Lord to lead our leaders to be workers who rightly handle the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Yours in Christ,
The Rt Revd Paul Donison,
Gafcon General Secretary.

PS: Please pray that the Lord will raise up generous partners to help us get these next-generation bishops along to the G25 conference!
