Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It’s three weeks until Gafcon Sunday on June 29, and today we look at our second function—to guard God’s gospel.
Revisionist leaders rejected the Bible’s teaching and persecuted churches that remained faithful to the word of Christ.
That’s why leaders representing the majority of the world’s Anglicans gathered in Jerusalem in 2008 to humbly pray and boldly affirm God’s unchanging truth.
Our first conference became a movement that continues to guard God’s gospel in four ways.
Firstly, we guard God’s gospel by governing councils.
Our Primates Council prayerfully leads our movement in humbly submitting to God’s word, as together they oversee 85 percent of the world’s 85 million Anglicans.
Secondly, we guard God’s gospel by publishing communiqués.
We declare and defend God’s truth by publishing formal statements from our assemblies, conferences, and councils, to provide clarity in the midst of doctrinal confusion.
Thirdly, we guard God’s gospel by rebuking falsehood.
We solemnly hold shepherds accountable for their failures to feed and protect Christ’s sheep, so we correct and rebuke with patience and careful instruction.
Fourthly, we guard God’s gospel by authenticating dioceses.
We extend heartfelt fellowship to Anglicans shunned by Canterbury, by authenticating and establishing dioceses and provinces, as necessary.
We need your help to guard God’s gospel, and your financial gifts make this possible.
Will you celebrate Gafcon Sunday with us on June 29 by playing a short video, praying the Gafcon Collect, and collecting a special offering for our movement?
Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers.
Yours in Christ,
Bishop Paul Donison,
General Secretary, Gafcon
PS: The Gafcon Sunday video will be ready soon—will you play it at church on June 29?
