A Global Anglican Future Conference is planned for June 2008. I want those in the fellowship of our Diocese to know what this is about and why I am involved.

The Primate of Nigeria, the Most Reverend Peter Akinola, gave a press conference in Lagos, Nigeria on January 30 announcing the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in the Holy Land. The occasion was a gathering of the GAFCON Theology Resource Team.

In a new resource paper for GAFCON, presented to the GAFCON Theology Resource Group by Rev Dr Mark Thompson, Academic Dean and Head of Theology at Moore College, Sydney, Dr Thompson argues that the sources of authority within the Anglican Communion are easily understood in their historical context.

Members of the Theology Resource Team for GAFCON met in Lagos Nigeria from January 28-30. They came from Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Australia, Ghana, India, and England.
